The Astro Restoration Project (ARP) is a 501c3 not-for-profit, all volunteer organization, operating for charitable and education purposes, to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education through restoration and preservation of the Astro payload, which flew on the Space Shuttle.

In partnership with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, a dedicated team of former Spacelab personnel are restoring hardware flown as part of the Astro-1 and Astro-2 missions flown on the Space Shuttle.

Help Us Restore a Piece of Space History

The Astro Spacelab Missions flew four telescopes - three of these telescopes looked for astronomical phenomena in the ultraviolet wavelength, with the fourth telescope, which flew on Astro-1 only, performed x-ray observations.   The series of missions was comprised of Astro-1, which launched on the Space Shuttle Columbia in 1990; and Astro-2, which launched on the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1995.  If you would like to learn more about the Astro Missions, click here.

We could use your help in making the restoration of the Astro hardware a success.

If you are a space enthusiast and would like to volunteer to support this effort, please contact us at info@astrorestorationproject.org.
